Ex-UNIBEN SUG President, Osifo Declares for North-America Alumni Vice President

A former President of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Students’ Union Government, Comrade Osasere Osifo, has declared for Vice President in the forthcoming election of the institution’s Alumni body in North America.

The UNIBEN alumnus formally declared his interest in a personally signed statement issued on Monday, a copy of which was obtained by CAMPUS GIST. The body is known as the University of Benin Alumni Association, North America (UBAANA) chapter.

Osifo, who was elected Union President in 2012, says he is running to ensure the Association becomes more inclusive and accommodating to younger alumni like himself, while equally upholding the UBAANA’s Constitution.

He said, “UBAANA as an association has made giant strides over the years in impacting positively and contributing in no small measure to the growth, advancement, and development of our precious alma mater.”

According to him, the forthcoming UBAANA election is very symbolic as it will mark the first time a younger alumni will be contesting for an executive position in the Association.

“As Vice President, I will uphold and support the visions of my President for the Association, I will ensure the Association becomes more inclusive and accommodating to younger Alums like myself and above all, I will support and uphold the constitution of UBAANA,” he pledged.

Osifo, while soliciting for support from UNIBEN alumni residing in America and Canada, urged them to join and support the “amazing things” happening at UBAANA, while also having a platform to meet and network with outstanding world-class professionals.

The UNIBEN Alumni Association, North America chapter covers countries in North America including the United States and Canada and serves as umbrella body for all graduates of the University of Benin residing in these countries.
