JUST IN: AAU dissolves Students’ Union for ‘Overstaying’ Tenure
Management of the Edo-state owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has announced the dissolution of its Students’ Union Government for overstaying their tenure.
The extant Mr Eghobamien Osamagbe led SUG was elected into office in September 2019, almost two years ago, for a one-year non-renewable tenure.
A statement made available to CAMPUS GIST on Wednesday by the institution’s Acting Dean of Students, Ojealaro Benson Peters, Esq., said the dissolution was with immediate effect.
Mr Peters added that the action was in line with the Students’ Union Constitution, established tradition and to pave way for a seamless transition in the AAU SUG.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this dissolution is with immediate effect and affects all the organs and structures of the Student Union Government save for the judicial arm,” he said.
The statement directed all the affected apparatchiks of the SUG to return all Union and University properties in their possession to the Students Affairs Division latest 4pm, 28th July, 2021.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benson Osadolor thanked officials of the dissolved government for their period of stewardship and wished them good success in their future endeavours.
